Supporter Members of The Care Workers Charity

March 20, 2024

We are thrilled to announce that Dale Care has become a Supporter Member of The Care Workers Charity (CWC), a remarkable organisation dedicated to the aid of health and social care workers across the UK. We hope that this partnership symbolises our commitment to the well-being of our staff.

About The Care Workers Charity: Home – The Care Workers Charity

The CWC stands out as the only national charity exclusively supporting health and social care workers. They provide a lifeline during times of hardship through mental health support, training, and financial crisis grants. These grants are a boon for those facing unexpected financial burdens, and they do not require repayment, ensuring peace of mind for our colleagues.

Our Role as a Supporter Member

By aligning with our internal portal, TELUS (formerly LifeWorks) for mental health and well-being support, our role as a Supporter Member amplifies the financial assistance available to our colleagues.

CWC’s Crisis Grant: A Safety Net for Our Teams

The CWC’s Crisis Grant is designed to assist health and social care workers experiencing significant financial impact due to:

  • Sudden loss of income
  • Unexpected illness or injury
  • Change in living circumstances or loss of home
  • Relationship breakdown
  • Domestic abuse
  • Death of a close relative

Eligibility and Grant Coverage

To be eligible for the grant, applicants must earn no more than 25% above the Minimum Income Standard (MIS), with managers typically exceeding this threshold. Additionally, household savings should be below £3,000 for single adults or £6,000 for couples.

Grants can help cover essential costs up to £500, with a £250 limit for daily living expenses, including:

  • Essential household items and white goods
  • Moving costs
  • Health aids and adaptations
  • Travel to hospital
  • Household and car repairs
  • Funeral costs
  • Bankruptcy and DRO fees
  • Eviction prevention

However, it’s important to note that the grants do not cover debts, legal fees, fines, house purchases, private medical treatment, private or higher education fees, or carpets.

Application Process

Applications can be made online at CWC’s Hardship Grant page: www.thecareworkerscharity.org.uk/hardship-grant. Applicants are required to complete the form and upload supporting documents. If unable to upload, documents can be emailed. Our team is ready to assist colleagues with their applications to ensure they receive the support they need.

We hope this partnership with The Care Workers Charity will bring a new level of support and assurance to our dedicated staff. Together, we can make a difference in the lives of those who care for us.
